Following the crushing defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections, Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly Tejashwi Yadav held a meeting with senior leaders of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) at his residence in Patna on Saturday, where they decided to take on Bihar government inside and outside the House.

At the high-level meeting, the party leaders discussed strategy to corner the state government during the upcoming Budget Session of the Bihar Assembly. The party decided that merely issuing statements against the Bihar government’s anti-people policies would no longer suffice. Instead, the party will raise the issues in the House and will also take to the streets with full force.

Earlier, Tejashwi Yadav held a separate meeting with party MPs and core committee members on Friday. His sister Misa Bharti, his close associate and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav, along with several Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs, were present at the meeting where organisational issues and strategy for the upcoming Budget Session in the parliament were discussed.

After the meeting on Saturday, Ujiarpur MLA Alok Mehta told the media that the party will soon launch a decisive struggle over pressing public issues and the failures of the government from streets to the House. He said every RJD worker will now take to the streets to protest against government policies, while the elected members will raise the issues inside the Bihar Legislative Assembly and the Bihar Legislative Council.

Former Education Minister and Madhepura MLA Chandrashekhar informed the media that Tejashwi Yadav will begin a tour after the budget session. “We are the ones who are constantly on the streets raising public issues,” he said.

He also said that the party’s base is strong and there is no shortage of voters. He added that the meeting reviewed where mistakes had been made and that strategies would now be formulated for the future.

Former Parbatta MLA Dr. Sanjeev said that discussions during the RJD meeting focused on organisational matters. There was also in-depth deliberation on the issue of deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
